Play X Build

The project
The project focuses on transforming the streets so that children - young and old - can safely play, learn, socialize and have fun this summer. Aspects such as inclusive and equitable designs that would benefit all of the community, low-cost and temporary designs that can be executed quickly and are easy to maintain, moveable designs that can be used in different locations such as schoolyards, churchyards or parks and lastly design that incorporates shade or other ideas for cooling during the summer are taken as considerations for the design.

The concept
"Play x Build" focuses on co-creating, reinventing and reusing. With this project I aimed to give the power of design, the ability to create a space to the community. A space that is tailor-made for the community by the community by emphasizing on the act of playing and collaborating while building. Depending on the space available the community can organize the components into the above given modules or into any arrangement that suites their need and lifestyle.

The crates in conjunction with the pillars, due to its modular design, can also be used to recreate space to play sports or invent something new depending on the number of kids playing.
The turn knob mechanism can be used to lock the pillars in place when connected with the crates.
